(London: Amy Kellogg) The serious scrutiny facing the rare personality disorder called Munchausen syndrome by proxy {MSBP}, which causes parents to harm or seek unneeded medical attention for their children to draw attention to themselves, in the United Kingdom analyzed; details given about the author of MSBP, Dr. Roy Meadow‡, who has recently been discredited in two major legal cases, and the case of the Hollisey-McLeans, who had their child taken away after being falsely diagnosed with MSBP. [Mother accused of having MSBP Dee HOLLISEY-McLEAN†- says parents accused of having disorder are helpless to keep government officials from taking their children.] [Child welfare advocate Chris CLOKE†- says that even though MSBP is being questioned, child abuse allegations still must be fully investigated.]
