(Atlanta: Jonathan Serrie) The push to keep judges from being allowed to rule on religious displays featured; details given about the proposed Constitution Restoration Act of 2004 that states public religious displays are a constitutional right and are not subject to interpretation or review by any federal court. [At press conference, former Alabama Chief Justice Roy MOORE†- explains proposed legislation.] [Representative Robert ADERHOLT†- talks about penalties that judges could face if they “did not act appropriately.”] [Anti-Defamation League’s Deborah LAUTER†- says the proposed legislation is “completely unnecessary.”] [Senator Zell MILLER†- condemns previous court rulings.] [Emory Law School’s Robert SCHAPIRO†- says the legislation is a way of amending the constitution without going through all of the formalities.]
