(Baghdad: Gaven Morris) A raid by militants on a police station in Fallujah, Iraq, where several prisoners were freed and Iraqi police were killed, featured; scenes shown of gunfights in the streets and bodies of attackers. [Eyewitness Mushtaq MOHAMMED† {thru translator} – describes what happened.] The assault on US Gen. John Abizaid two days ago in another Fallujah attack mentioned.
(Studio: Carol Lin) The theory of a US general on ending the insurgency in Iraq and protests against the US occupation noted; scenes shown of a demonstration in Baghdad. [GENERAL – comments on identifying facilitators and financiers.] The efforts of the Red Cross to get permission to visit former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, who was captured 2 months ago, and the sealing of the “spider hole” where Saddam was hiding when he was captured noted. [On the phone from Geneva, Switzerland, ICRC spokesman Florian WESTPHAL†- says that as a prisoner of war, Saddam should be visited by the International Committee of the Red Cross.]
