(Studio) Father and Daughter John and Mackenzie Phillips Noted Former Drug Addicts As Well As Relatives; John Phillips reported beginning his sentence today for drug pushing.

(Summit, New Jersey) [John PHILLIPS - didn't think he'd ever get involved with drugs.] His past problems noted. [PHILLIPS - comments on dissolution of his life.] Phillips' role with rock group Mamas and Papas recalled; scenes from "Monterey Pop" shown courtesy 20th Century Fox. [Mackenzie PHILLIPS - discusses her experiences with drugs.] Her career and drug-related problems discussed; scenes from "American Graffiti" shown courtesy MCA TV. [Mackenzie PHILLIPS - recalls firing from "One Day at a Time" and life in that period.] Her later marriage to her pusher said effort to maintain supply of drugs; estimated value of cocaine used by her last year mentioned. [John PHILLIPS - comments on entire family's addiction and fins. involved.] His arrest last year and referral to drug treatment center using clonidine discussed. [Fairoaks Hospital spokesperson Dr. Mark GOLD - notes parameters of program.] John and Mackenzie's post-addiction participation in program examined.
