(Washington: Robert Hager) Education Department report on the poor performance of American students on history tests examined; examples of test questions given. [Education Secretary Rod PAIGE - says over half of all high school seniors did not even know answers to basic history questions.] [Indiana University education professor John PATRICK - says the extremely low scores of seniors are "awful."] [New York University historian Diane RAVITCH - says the results are shocking.]
