(Madrid, Spain) Carter's reason for Spanish visit with King Juan Carlos, Queen Sophia, noted; films shown. Juan Carlos, groomed for throne by General Francisco Franco, said leading Spain to democracy. [CARTER - reads toast in Spanish.] US-Spain relations discussed; Prime Min. Adolfo Suarez's one-day trip to Washington, DC in January to express Spain's support of United States in Iran hostage crisis recalled. Carter family's sightseeing activities and dinner with Andres Segovia and others reported; films shown. His stop in Portugal tomorrow mentioned.
