(New York: Stephanie Gosk) The confession from American speed skater Simon Cho† that he cheated in the 2011 world championships featured; details given of his claim that his coach, Jae Su Chun††, pressured him to tamper with the skate of Canadian skater Olivier Jean††. [CHO – says in the Asian culture when an elder makes a request it’s very difficult to deny.] [US Speedskating† general counsel Steve SMITH†- says we don’t believe there is sufficient evidence that Jae Su directed Cho to tamper with the skates.] [“Chicago Tribune” Olympic sportswriter Philip HERSH†- says it’s a tremendous black eye for US speed skating.]
